How Do I Take Kratom

If you’re new to taking kratom, you may be unsure about what method of taking it is right for you. Here’s a guide on several ways to take kratom that’ll help you figure it out!

Grassroots kratom comes as a powder or in capsules.
First off, let’s figure out if powder or capsules are best for you:

Capsules:

  • Easy to take
  • Almost no taste
  • Easy to dose
  • Slower acting effects
  • Less bang for your buck

Powder:

  • Fast acting effects
  • Great bang for your buck
  • Harder to dose precisely
  • Strong taste makes it harder to take (there are tricks to help this!)

If taste is a dealbreaker for you, capsules are probably the way to go!
Here’s a dosing guide for Grassroots Harvest capsules. This is based on an estimated average, and should be adjusted according to body weight and/or tolerance.

Capsule Dosing:

Mild- 1 to 2 g (2-4 capsules)
Moderate- 2 to 4.5 g (4-9 capsules)
High- 4.5 to 8 g (9-16 capsules)
(our capsules are .5 g each)

Kratom powder has a strong taste, but there are ways to take it that minimize the flavor and make it easier! Here are some of the most popular ways of taking kratom powder:

  • Like Protein Powder- One of the fastest ways of getting kratom into your system. Measure the desired amount into a teaspoon/tablespoon with a glass of water or flavored liquid prepared. Toss the kratom powder as far back as possible, making sure not to breathe in, and immediately wash down with the prepared liquid. The effects will kick in quickly and powerfully.
  • As A Tea- This method is growing more and more popular. Simply place the desired amount of kratom into a coffee filter and let steep in boiling water for 10-15 minutes to brew a strong kratom tea. The effects are pleasant and long lasting.
  • Mixed Into Food- Kratom can be mixed with food and eaten, some of the most popular things to mix it into are smoothies and orange juice, as they mask the flavor well. Effects will take longer to kick in with this method, but they will also last a long time.

  • Mild- Up to .5 tsp.
  • Moderate- 1 to 1.5 tsp.

    I toss n wash but only get the effect sometimes?

      Toss n wash is definitely an effective way of taking kratom, it’s definitely odd that you only feel the effects sometimes- perhaps try upping your typical dosage by a gram or two?

    My husband and I are new to kratom and have been taking it a couple days and haven’t felt any difference. We have the powder and are taking one teaspoon doses at a time and even went up to two tablespoons at a time and still nothing. What should we do differently? Also, what kind should I use for an energy and focus effect? I don’t like to be tired lol. Thank you

      A teaspoon of kratom is around 3 grams, while a tablespoon is around 9 grams. A dose of 3 grams may be too small for a noticeable effect, but I’m very surprised to hear that you felt nothing after two tablespoons- that’s a pretty hefty dose. Acidic juices like lemon juice and orange juice help make the alkaloids in kratom more easily absorbed for stronger effects, so I’d suggest trying to take your kratom with a glass of OJ or mixing it in there. For energy & focus we definitely recommend white vein kratom, like White Thai, White Sumatra, or our BOOST blend. Definitely no red veins, as those are typically the most relaxing!
