Last revised 18 September 2026. We update this guide when our catalog or our lab results change. The revision history is at the bottom.
The short version
- "Red vein" describes the color of the vein and stem in the leaf. It's a way of sorting raw material, not a grade and not a promise.
- GRH carries two red vein items, each in powder and capsules: Red Maeng Da and our Relax Blend.
- We don't carry Red Bali, Red Indo, Red Borneo or Red Bentuangie. We used to, and the old COAs are still posted.
- Red vein powder runs $15 to $100 by size. Capsules run $10 to $120 by count.
- All of our leaf comes from one family-owned farm in Pontianak, Indonesia.
- Every GRH strain and blend has a COA posted publicly, with the lot number and test date on it.
- 21+ only, and there are states and counties we can't ship to.

What "red vein" actually means
Kratom is the leaf of Mitragyna speciosa. On any given leaf, the vein running down the middle and the stem it's attached to have a color. When that color is reddish rather than pale green or white, the leaf gets sorted as red vein.
That's it. That's the whole of the term.
It's a sorting label for raw material, in the same way that "single origin" tells you something real about coffee without telling you how the cup will taste. Most of the kratom market sells vein color as if it were a product tier. It isn't one.
What actually varies between one bag and the next is the farm, the harvest, the drying, the grind, and whether anyone tested it. Those are the things worth asking about, and they're the things we can show you a document for.
Where ours comes from
All GRH leaf comes from a single family-owned farm in Pontianak, Indonesia. We've worked with the same farm since we started, and that partnership is stated on our product pages.
That's also why our red vein range is short. We sell what that one farm harvests. Our GRH-branded leaf isn't bought in bulk from a broker and relabeled.
What we stock right now
Four items, two products, two formats each.
Red Maeng Da. Our single red strain. Available as Red Maeng Da Kratom Powder in 45g, 100g, 500g and 1000g, and as Red Maeng Da Kratom Capsules in 50, 200 and 1000 counts.
Relax Blend. A blend of red vein and green vein leaf rather than a single strain. Available as Relax Blend Kratom Powder in the same four sizes and as Relax Blend Kratom Capsules in the same three counts.
If you want to see both of those plus the rest of the range in one place, that's the Red Vein collection. If you'd rather try the blends before committing to a bag, there's a blend sample pack at $9.
Compare the four
| Product | Type | Sizes | Price | Most recent posted COA |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Red Maeng Da Powder | Single strain, loose powder | 45g, 100g, 500g, 1000g | $15 to $100 | Lot 12302025, 6 Jan 2026 |
| Red Maeng Da Capsules | Single strain, capsules | 50ct, 200ct, 1000ct | $10 to $120 | Lot 12302025, 6 Jan 2026 |
| Relax Blend Powder | Red and green blend, loose powder | 45g, 100g, 500g, 1000g | $15 to $100 | Lot 11884, 16 Jun 2026 |
| Relax Blend Capsules | Red and green blend, capsules | 50ct, 200ct, 1000ct | $10 to $120 | Lot 11884, 16 Jun 2026 |
Our lab page lists one COA per strain, not one per format, so the powder and the capsule for a given strain point to the same document.
What we don't carry
You might have arrived here looking for Red Bali, Red Indo, Red Borneo or Red Bentuangie. We don't sell any of them.
We did carry them. The COAs from that period are still on our lab results page, dated 2022 and October 2023, sitting in the Red Vein section next to the current ones. We've left them up because pulling old test results down isn't how we want to run a lab page. But they're archive, not catalog, and nothing on this site sells those strains today.
If one of those is specifically what you came for, we'd rather say so than point you at something else and call it a substitute.
Powder or capsules
Same material, different handling.
Powder is loose ground leaf that you measure yourself. Capsules are that same powder in a shell, counted out for you.
On price, the larger sizes cost less per unit. Powder works out to about 33 cents a gram at 45g and about 10 cents a gram at 1000g. Capsules are 20 cents each at 50ct and 200ct, and 12 cents each at 1000ct.
So it comes down to whether you want to measure or not, and how much you want to buy at once. Both are on the Red Vein collection page side by side.
Lab results and COAs
Every GRH strain and blend has a certificate of analysis posted at grhkratom.com/pages/lab-results, organized by vein and by brand, free to open without an account or an email address.
For the two current red items, the documents posted as of today are Red Maeng Da lot 12302025 dated 6 January 2026, and Relax lot 11884 dated 16 June 2026.
We don't reprint numbers from those documents in blog posts. The COA is the artifact. Read it there.
Who can buy, and where we ship
21+ only.
There are states and counties we can't ship to, and that list changes. Rather than print it here and let it go out of date, each product page carries its current restriction list at the very top. Check the page for the product you want before you order, and our checkout verifies restricted states as well.
FAQ
What does "red vein" mean?
It describes the color of the central vein and stem of the kratom leaf. It's a way of sorting raw leaf, not a grade and not a claim about the product.
Which red vein products does GRH carry?
Two: Red Maeng Da as a single strain, and our Relax Blend, which combines red and green vein leaf. Both come in powder and capsules.
Do you sell Red Bali, Red Indo, Red Borneo or Bentuangie?
No. We used to. We don't now.
Then why are there COAs for them on your lab page?
Because they're from when we carried them, and we don't take old test results down. They're dated 2022 and October 2023 and they're archive.
Is Maeng Da a place?
No. It's a product name used across the kratom category, not a geographic origin the way Bali or Borneo are. Our leaf comes from Pontianak, Indonesia.
What's the difference between the powder and the capsules?
The format. Powder is loose and you measure it. Capsules are pre-counted. The material is the same and they share a COA.
How do I know which batch I got?
The lot is on the package. Match it to the document on the lab results page. If the lot on your package isn't posted yet, email us and we'll send it.
Can you ship to my state?
Check the restriction list at the top of the product page you're looking at. It's the current one, and checkout verifies restricted states too.
In short
Red vein is a description of leaf, not a product tier. We carry two red items, Red Maeng Da and the Relax Blend, each in powder and capsules, from one farm in Pontianak. We don't carry the other reds still listed on our own lab page, and we've said so here rather than letting the old post imply otherwise. Every GRH strain and blend has a public COA, and the current red ones are dated in this guide so you can tell how fresh they are.
Most kratom is marketed, not explained. This is us explaining it. 21+.
How we revise this guide
This guide isn't static, and it isn't supposed to be. Our catalog changes, farms have different harvests, new COAs get posted, and the rules in this category move faster than most. So we revise these pages as new information arrives rather than writing them once and leaving them up. The date at the top is the point. If it's old, you should weigh it accordingly.
If you find something here that's wrong, out of date, or doesn't match what's on the package in your hand, tell us. Email info@grhkratom.com and we'll either change it or explain why we didn't.
Revision history
- 18 September 2026. Full rewrite. Removed outcome and effect language throughout. Replaced the strain list, which recommended three red strains we no longer carry, with the four items actually in the catalog and added a section saying plainly what we don't sell. Removed three collection links whose destination pages are named for outcomes. Added COA lot numbers and test dates, a contents list, a comparison table and an FAQ. Retitled the page. The URL did not change.
- 25 March 2026. Original publication.
